[Bug 655854] New: Stable kernel releases are deleted too fast
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=655854 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=655854#c0 Summary: Stable kernel releases are deleted too fast Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.3 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.3 Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: digulla@hepe.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686 on x86_64; rv:2.0b7) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/4.0b7 A while ago, I installed kernel 2.6.36-92-desktop. A few days ago, I saw that a bug fix for that was released. Today, I tried to update but there is no repository with a 2.6.36 version of the kernel anymore. Instead I find 2.6.37-rc3. I can't use the 2.6.34 kernel because it has severe bugs. Why do you have to delete released kernels after a few days? Why not move them to a proper place where people can download it until the next major version is released? The way it is now, all your work is lost :-( As for the severity: Running a current kernel is important today because of all the attacks. That's why I think this isn't "normal" priority but "major". Reproducible: Always -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Why do you have to delete released kernels after a few days?
We will discuss this. Thanks.

What attacks? We backport security patches to all maintained releases? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Is the newly created Kernel:stable what you asked for?

Yes but I can't use the old kernel because it contains a bug which prevents StarCraft from starting. So I need a newer kernel and I had it but only for a few days. (In reply to comment #3)

Yes, that looks like just what I need. Can you please add a description to the repository what it's for and when one would want to use it? The current "Kernel Builds for stable (openSUSE_11.3)" isn't really answering the question an outsider will have. Otherwise, that seems to resolve my issue. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
