https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=786905 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=786905#c0 Summary: installer: FUD in the Installation Settings screen Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.2 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: YaST2 AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: rneuhauser@suse.com QAContact: jsrain@suse.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- install 12.2 on a machine with FreeBSD 9.0 installed in a GPT setup (/dev/sda1 for the EFI boot partition, /dev/sda2 for freebsd-swap, /dev/sda3 for freebsd-ufs). have the Partitioning screen use the free disk space, it will propose /dev/sda4 for swap, /dev/sda5 for /, dev/sda6 for /home). accept. arrive at the final summary screen ("Installation Settings"). the "Booting" section of the summary will have this in red: Partition number > 3 is being used for booting with GPT partition table. there's no explanation of the effects. will it boot or not? the message needs to be clear about this. besides not mentioning what problems it's trying to scare me away from, if this setup won't boot, the [Install] button should be disabled. what other problems can i expect if it will in fact boot? there surely must be something terrible ahead if this warrants such a grave warning. more serious question: why does the installer suggest a scheme it will then issue grave warnings against? aaaand, after commiting the installation, the system is indeed unbootable. if this matters, the installer chose "GRUB2" for the bootloader (not the -EFI one). -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
