[Bug 1037752] New: Texlive consist of too many packages
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1037752 Bug ID: 1037752 Summary: Texlive consist of too many packages Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Distribution Version: Leap 42.2 Hardware: All OS: openSUSE 42.2 Status: NEW Severity: Enhancement Priority: P5 - None Component: Other Assignee: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com Reporter: iattilagy@gmail.com QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/58.0.3029.96 Safari/537.36 Build Identifier: I wanted to compile a .tex file, so I issued a "zypper in texlive-latex-bin-bin" that grabs about 1600 packages as dependencies, most about 20kB in size. Downloading them took nearly an hour on my 500Mbit/s connection. This could be a problem on upgrade too. I think packages should be made larger if possible, no one downloads fonts one-by-one. If you install the whole KDE distro from DVD it downloads about 3000 packages, latex shouldn't be half of that. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Issue command zypper in texlive-latex-bin-bin 2. Say yes to download 3. Actual Results: It started downloading 1600 packages. Expected Results: Texlive should be packaged into reasonable number of rpms. Under 100 if possible. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
