[Bug 653456] New: LVM not auto filled in setup
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=653456 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=653456#c0 Summary: LVM not auto filled in setup Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.3 Version: Final Platform: i586 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.3 Status: NEW Severity: Minor Priority: P5 - None Component: Installation AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: nothereforever@hotmail.com QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; SV1; .NET CLR 1.1.4322; FDM) was in Bug 645196 but i am supposed to have one bug per report i set it to use a certain disk area of about 80Gig for LVM: it made a /boot partition which should be good, and it made 20 gig for root and 25 gig for home and 2gig for swap but it left the rest of the LVM BLANK!! normally it fills the rest of the space with HOME when using the automatic nonLVM method. charlie. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. run setup and get to "suggested partitioning" 2. it finds a place where it says is empty space (make sure you have greater than 47Gig free to see bug). right now "partition based" is chosen. choose "lvm based" 3. go to edit partition setup 4. you notice it creates a 70.6MB /boot and a 186GB LVM partition on the drive and it fills drive 5. choose "volume managment" on left plane and choose system from the [+], now notice that there is a coloured bar representing the capacity of the LVM partition (before it was disk capacity), and notice it has left most of the lvm partition unpartitioned. it is up to you if you want to ask user if he wants whole of their disk space filled with LVM when they choose LVM, but i dont think this is what it should do! -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Just enlarge your logical volumes or add new ones. That is even possible after the installation and while the logical volumes are in use. If the complete LVM volume group would be allocated by the proposal the feature of LVM to enlarge and add new logical volumes would not be possible. Also see fate #308490. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
