[Bug 668197] New: virtualbox - missing VBoxExtPackHelper, broken help link
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=668197 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=668197#c0 Summary: virtualbox - missing VBoxExtPackHelper, broken help link Classification: Internal Novell Products Product: openSUSE Build Service Version: master Platform: i686 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.3 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: build process AssignedTo: mls@novell.com ReportedBy: cshorler@googlemail.com QAContact: adrian@novell.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-GB; rv:1.9.2.13) Gecko/20101203 SUSE/3.6.13-0.2.1 Firefox/3.6.13 (packaging?) bugs: - applies to v4.0.2 in the BuildService virtualbox backports project. - the documentation problem is also a problem with v3 as included in 11.3 release (but this isn't a problem for me as I've switched to v4 in the build service). 1. To install (Oracle/Virtual Box) host extensions for RDP and other things VBoxExtPackHelperApp is required. This file appears to be missing from the core installation package. (I'm not requesting the extensions, just the missing utility). 2. The documentation link in the Qt interface points to the wrong location. There is a config variable in Config.kmk in the source directory that can be patched to fix this (I think the there is already a patch on this file anyway - so it's probably no hardship to amend that? - the variable to set is VBOX_PATH_APP_DOCS). Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Host Extensions - download from VirtualBox website, attempt to install. 2. Help - launch 'Contents' from the help menu, the pdf is searched for in the wrong directory vs. where it is actually packaged. Actual Results: 1. Error message will be presented 2. Error message will be presented Expected Results: 1. Install host extensions 2. I've uploaded patches to fix these problems onto the build service - not sure I've done it correctly though, it's my first time using it.

I also run into trouble when I tried to add the extension pack.
@Christopher: Which project contains the fixes you mentioned in comment 1?
it's in Virtualization / virtualbox repo and will be soon in openSUSE:Factory bye -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
