During installation on a 600GB HD (with Windows Vista and Ubuntu 10.4) I got a
red warning at Installation settings/Booting saying:

"The bootloader is installing on a partition that does not lie entirely below
128GB. The system might not boot"

I changed location to enable boot from mbr and boot from / partion disabled.

The warning remains, but no problems with booting.
