[Bug 1233274] New: Installer gets stuck on Hardware Detection
https://bugzilla.suse.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1233274 Bug ID: 1233274 Summary: Installer gets stuck on Hardware Detection Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Distribution Version: Leap 15.6 Hardware: aarch64 OS: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Installation Assignee: yast2-maintainers@suse.de Reporter: moritzkempe@mailbox.org QA Contact: jsrain@suse.com Target Milestone: --- Found By: --- Blocker: --- Created attachment 878519 --> https://bugzilla.suse.com/attachment.cgi?id=878519&action=edit Netcup VNC Console When installing the latest openSUSE 15.5 and 15.6 from ISO Image on a netcup arm vserver (https://www.netcup.com/de/server/arm-server) the installation gets stuck when starting the live system. The grub boot menu does work. After some kernel output, the black screen from the screenshot appears. The operation "Loading basic drivers" takes a minute or two, but after "Hardware detection" nothing happens any more. The system seems stuck but the cursor blinks irregularly. OpenSUSE Tumbleweed is not affected. Used the installer from https://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:AArch64 (which still shows the older 15.5 version as default) Tried installing from the following ISO files: http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/leap/15.5/iso/openSUSE-Leap-15.5-D... http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/leap/15.6/iso/openSUSE-Leap-15.6-D... I also tried to use a file system image but was unable to connect to the network using the virtual network adapter which seems like the hardware, which is maybe blocking the hardware detection. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

It's a virtual machine. I added a screenshot of the output as an attachment. The system doesn't boot any further than shown in the screenshot. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

I haven't tried any other hard drive images. I'm afraid I'm not able to re test this, because I'm using this server productive right now. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

With Tumbleweed?
Yes, didn't run as fast as I thought, though.
You should be able to boot the Minimal VM image from virtual external drive, as you likely do with ISO.
Using the JeOS-efi image (openSUSE-Leap-15.6-ARM-JeOS-efi.aarch64.qcow2) the virtual network hardware was configured correctly upon first boot. (The link eth0 got an ip address and is active.) I realized that I do not yet have a use for an arm server. Is there anything else you want to be to test before I terminate the lease? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
