[Bug 810351] New: Patch openSUSE-2013-213 requires libebl1 which is missing
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=810351 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=810351#c0 Summary: Patch openSUSE-2013-213 requires libebl1 which is missing Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.2 Version: Final Platform: i686 OS/Version: openSUSE 12.2 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Update Problems AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: jimc@math.ucla.edu QAContact: jsrain@suse.com Found By: Customer Blocker: --- I ran zypper patch, and it reported: Problem: nothing provides libebl1 needed by systemtap-1.7-3.8.1.i586 Solution 1: deinstallation of systemtap-1.7-3.4.1.i586 Solution 2: do not install patch:openSUSE-2013-213-1.noarch Solution 3: break systemtap-1.7-3.8.1.i586 by ignoring some of its dependencies libebl1 is in the main distro in v11.4 and v12.3 but not in v12.2. Workarounds: A: Get libebl1 from the SuSE Build Service. B: On my system systemtap is left over from some package that I removed, so I just used solution #1 (toss systemtap). Suggestion to the developers: either do some magic on systemtap so libebl1 is optional, or provide a no-change patch to libebl1 so it will get into the update repo, from which it will be installable. (Note: on my system the SuSE Build Service repo is only enabled on special occasions.) -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

According to the repository: libebl1-0.153-2.1.5.x86_64.rpm -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

But it didn't get onto the DVD, which is what I meant by "not in the main distro". -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=810351 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=810351#c4 Marcus Meissner <meissner@suse.com> changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Status|NEW |RESOLVED Resolution| |WORKSFORME --- Comment #4 from Marcus Meissner <meissner@suse.com> 2013-03-25 09:35:18 UTC --- The total size of openSUSE these days is way beyond the 9GB of DVD space. So the DVD only contains the really basic desktop setup selection including libreoffice if possible. So http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/12.2/repo/oss/ is the full official (opensource) version of 12.2. While we could add any non-DVD dependencies also to the update channel, it does not make much sense. If you have the update channel enabled, you should also have the oss channel enabled. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
