[Bug 208863] New: Repair Installed System does not work well (from the Install CD)
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=208863 Summary: Repair Installed System does not work well (from the Install CD) Product: openSUSE 10.2 Version: Alpha 4 Platform: 64bit OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: YaST2 AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: hugo.costelha@gmail.com QAContact: jsrain@novell.com I "allways" had a SATA disk with SUSE 10.1 installed, and now added and IDE drive, where I installed openSUSE 10.2. Since after having installed openSUSE 10.2 I still was presented with the same old SUSE 10.1 installed grub, I decided to try to repair the bootloader. I booted from CD1 of openSUSE 10.2, and proceeded to "Repair Installed System". However, even selecting "Propose New Configuraton", it only appeared openSUSE 10.2 to be added to the GRUB, no line for SUSE 10.1. Since I am not a grub expert, it was clear that I couldn't fix it easily. I then decided to boot openSUE 10.2, open YAST and slecet "Install Bootloader". I was suprised, because selecting "Propose New Configuration" this time gave me a list including openSUSE 10.2 and SUSE 10.1. Concluding, the "Repair Bootloader" started from the installation CD should be able to behave as the "Install Bootloader" started from the installation, proposing me a real fix for the GRUB. (I will add both YAST logs) -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=208863 ------- Comment #6 from hugo.costelha@gmail.com 2006-11-23 16:23 MST ------- Ok, now (RC1) I think the behaviour is better, although not still the desired one. It is now able to read the configuration from disk, so it can show the current configuration, but asking to Propose a new one, shows me just openSUSE 10.2, it ignores my other SUSE 10.1. And then I also hit bug #208870. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
