For making the speaker working, run the command once like: amixer -c0 set Speaker 0dB
That fixed it. I was testing with "speaker-test -c2 -l5 -twav" as suggested on the audio troubleshooting page: http://en.opensuse.org/SDB:Audio_troubleshooting#STEP-1:_How_to_test_your_so... I think I had a similar issue before with the volume just being set way too low. Is there an easy way to check what the volume is set to? Maybe that wiki page could have that added. Or maybe the test should just be: speaker-test -c2 -l5 -twav if no sound heard, try to increase the volume to max via "amixer -c0 set Speaker 0dB" and try again. Of course that begs the question of how to make the volume change permanent (or is it from that one command?) Anyway, I'm happy to close this bug, or keep it open to troubleshoot why the volume was set too low.
