https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=353525 Summary: 10.3 and 11.0 Alpha only Screen resolution 800x600 available on ATI Mobility Xpress 1250 Product: openSUSE 11.0 Version: unspecified Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.0 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: X.Org AssignedTo: sndirsch@novell.com ReportedBy: sboyce@blueyonder.co.uk QAContact: xorg-maintainer-bugs@forge.provo.novell.com Found By: --- Install of 11.0 Alpha0 x86_64, kde live 10.3, etc. all configure xorg.conf for fbdev with 800x600 resolution. YaST or sax2 only offered 800x600. After installing the ATI driver 8.443.1 "sax2 -r -m 0=fglrx", "sax2 -a" etc., screen switches but gets stuck flashing the cursor {*} until CTRL-ALT-BACKSPACE. Booted Kubuntu Live CD and copied over xorg.conf which now gives the VESA driver and 1152x864 and I'm using that with 11.0 latest Factory update. # hwinfo --gfxcard --monitor 15: PCI 105.0: 0300 VGA compatible controller (VGA) [Created at pci.301] UDI: /org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/pci_1002_791f Unique ID: ul7N.x+6w2W22csD Parent ID: vSkL.HjQnVRFuoa8 SysFS ID: /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:01.0/0000:01:05.0 SysFS BusID: 0000:01:05.0 Hardware Class: graphics card Model: "Acer Incorporated [ALI] Radeon X1200 Series" Vendor: pci 0x1002 "ATI Technologies Inc" Device: pci 0x791f "Radeon X1200 Series" SubVendor: pci 0x1025 "Acer Incorporated [ALI]" SubDevice: pci 0x0124 Memory Range: 0xd0000000-0xdfffffff (rw,prefetchable) Memory Range: 0xf0100000-0xf010ffff (rw,non-prefetchable) I/O Ports: 0x9000-0x9fff (rw) Memory Range: 0xf0000000-0xf00fffff (rw,non-prefetchable) IRQ: 255 (no events) I/O Ports: 0x3c0-0x3df (rw) Module Alias: "pci:v00001002d0000791Fsv00001025sd00000124bc03sc00i00" Driver Info #0: Driver Status: fglrx is active Driver Activation Cmd: "modprobe fglrx" Config Status: cfg=no, avail=yes, need=no, active=unknown Attached to: #35 (PCI bridge) 37: None 00.0: 10002 LCD Monitor [Created at monitor.94] Unique ID: rdCR.s75JIzSCJF1 Hardware Class: monitor Model: "AUO LCD Monitor" Vendor: AUO "AUO" Device: eisa 0x6387 Resolution: 1440x900@60Hz Size: 367x229 mm Detailed Timings #0: Resolution: 1440x900 Horizontal: 1440 1648 1680 1760 (+208 +240 +320) -hsync Vertical: 900 903 909 912 (+3 +9 +12) -vsync Frequencies: 96.30 MHz, 54.72 kHz, 60.00 Hz Config Status: cfg=new, avail=yes, need=no, active=unknown 38: None 00.1: 10002 LCD Monitor [Created at monitor.94] Unique ID: jyhG.s75JIzSCJF1 Hardware Class: monitor Model: "AUO LCD Monitor" Vendor: AUO "AUO" Device: eisa 0x6387 Resolution: 1440x900@60Hz Size: 367x229 mm Detailed Timings #0: Resolution: 1440x900 Horizontal: 1440 1648 1680 1760 (+208 +240 +320) -hsync Vertical: 900 903 909 912 (+3 +9 +12) -vsync Frequencies: 96.30 MHz, 54.72 kHz, 60.00 Hz Config Status: cfg=new, avail=yes, need=no, active=unknown -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Instead it should provide all resolutions provided by the card's VESA BIOS ("hwinfo --framebuffer") to use fbdev. Could you provide the output of this command? In case you don't need features like 3D/Xvideo I suggest to use radeonhd instead of fglrx driver. There are packages available for openSUSE 10.3/Factory in the buildservice (search for xorg-x11-driver-video-radeonhd"). Just use "sax2 -r" for configuration. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
