[Bug 280738] New: Add a posibility to show commands YaST executes
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=280738 Summary: Add a posibility to show commands YaST executes Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Alpha 4plus Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Enhancement Priority: P5 - None Component: YaST2 AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: suse-beta@cboltz.de QAContact: jsrain@novell.com An idea from LinuxTag, while talking with someone at the LPI booth on Friday evening (BTW: They had wine [to drink, not to execute M$ programs ;-) ] and cheese - something I would like to see at the openSUSE booth next year also *g*) YaST is a nice tool, but it's hard when you have to do something that YaST can't handle. And it can be annoying when you have to do similar things often and don't know how to do it on the commandline or with a script. Idea: There should be a possibility (a hotkey or something like that) to display which commands YaST will execute when clicking "Finish". This would help to build a bridge between YaST and the commandline tools. And it would be a nice learning effect for people who are interested ;-) It would also be helpful for people who have to do similar things often and want to write a script instead of always clicking around in YaST. Idea 2: Log all executed commands (but nothing else) in a separate file, also ready for copy&paste to a script. BTW: These ideas aren't new, the concept is used in IBM's AIX already: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IBM_AIX_(operating_system)#System_Management_Co... -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
