The error says the kernel is unable to detect my cpu as being an x86_64 cpu and will not boot. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.start machine with any of the above .iso disks in the drive. 2.machine starts to boot but up pops an error that says the kernel requires and x86_64 cpu but only detected an i686 cpu. Unable to boot- use a kernel appropriate for your cpu 3. Actual Results: the machine will not boot any further. I have to restart the machine. Do other distros/older releases correctly recognize this cpu as being 64bits?
Is there something in your bios that needs to be set to enable this properly?
Yes, I'm using the x86_64 machine right now with opensuse 10.3-x86_64 - DVD installed. No problem detecting...the above cpuinfo is what I get while running the 10.3 version. I have looked in the bios and cannot find anything related to enabling 64 bit. I'm open to suggestions.
