[Bug 617699] New: all I/O hung when doing pvmove
http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=617699 http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=617699#c0 Summary: all I/O hung when doing pvmove Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.3 Version: Factory Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: jnelson-suse@jamponi.net QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- Created an attachment (id=371948) --> (http://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=371948) dmesg output User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US; rv:1.9.1.9) Gecko/20100317 SUSE/3.5.9-0.1.1 Firefox/3.5.9 I was transitioning a volume group from one physical volume (/dev/sdb3) to another (/dev/md2). At some point (not very long after starting), all I/O hung and the machine became totally unresponsive. This is with 2.6.34-9-desktop on x86_64. I then rebooted into openSUSE 11.2 (yes, 11.2 -- 2.6.31.5) rescue mode. I completed the pvmove, and transitioned once again to another software raid (shuffling disks about is not fun). Again it hung. *all* I/O hung, it appeared. This time, I managed to capture all of "dmesg" as well as "echo t > /proc/sysrq-trigger" and "echo b > /proc/sysrq-trigger". I had to cold cycle the box. Eventually the pvmove worked fine. I will attach the dmesg output.
