## Before attaching external monitor
Usually outputs need to be rescanned. So please try 'xrandr --auto' first. Then again 'xrandr'. Does this help? -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Yes, although KRandR allows me to extend/clone my display onto the external monitor when I attach it, the display never actually appears.. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Unfortunately not. The external display still stays blank (in sleep mode)
peter@koala:~> xrandr --auto peter@koala:~> xrandr Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 1280 x 800, maximum 4096 x 4096 VGA connected 1280x800+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 474mm x 296mm 1280x800 60.0*+ 58.9 1280x768 60.0 58.9 1280x720 60.0 58.8 1024x768 60.0 60.0 58.8 1280x600 60.0 58.9 1024x600 60.0 58.7 800x600 60.3 60.0 56.2 58.7 768x576 60.0 58.6 640x480 59.9
These modes make no sense for an external monitor. Please do the following. Add Option "ModeDebug" to 'Section "Device"' of your xorg.conf. Then restart X. Attach the new Xorg.0.log. Then run 'xrandr --auto'. Attach again the new Xorg.0.log. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

I tried deleting xorg.conf and reconfiguring with sax2. No improvement..
Without any xorg.conf. Please do *not* run sax2. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

OK. I removed xorg.conf and restarted without the external monitor attached. It continues to exhibit the same problem.
Sorry, no idea. I suggest to report this upstream. I'm afraid such driver issues need to be addressed by Intel's Linux driver development team. Thus I would like to ask you to report this issue upstream on bugs.freedesktop.org according to http://intellinuxgraphics.org/how_to_report_bug.html and add the following Bugzilla accounts to Cc: eich@pdx.freedesktop.org kent.liu@intel.com mhopf@suse.de quanxian.wang@intel.com sndirsch@suse.de You'll need to register for an account on bugs.freedesktop.org first, in case you don't have one yet. Thanks.
One thing to note however, iş that booting with the external monitor attached, but without an xorg.conf present gives the following information:
# xrandr Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 2960 x 1050, maximum 4096 x 4096 VGA connected 1680x1050+1280+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 474mm x 296mm 1680x1050 60.0*+ 60.0 1600x1200 60.0 1280x1024 75.0 60.0 1440x900 75.0 59.9 1152x864 75.0 1024x768 75.0 70.1 60.0 832x624 74.6 800x600 72.2 75.0 60.3 56.2 640x480 75.0 72.8 66.7 59.9 720x400 70.1
This looks much better now. These are reasonable resolutions for an external monitor. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
