[Bug 280900] New: Not clean umount of loop mounted encripted xfs filesystem
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=280900 Summary: Not clean umount of loop mounted encripted xfs filesystem Product: openSUSE 10.2 Version: Final Platform: Other OS/Version: openSUSE 10.2 Status: NEW Severity: Minor Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: robin.listas@telefonica.net QAContact: qa@suse.de I have encrypted DVDs which I mount via this fstab line: /dev/dvd /mnt/dvd.crypta.x auto ro,noauto,user,loop,encryption=twofish256 0 0 I umount via this command: ~> umount /mnt/dvd.crypta.x && eject /dev/dvd and I get these 5 lines in the kernel log: Jun 5 13:38:22 nimrodel kernel: xfs_force_shutdown(loop3,0x1) called from line 424 of file fs/xfs/xfs_rw.c. Return address = 0xf93e5588 Jun 5 13:38:22 nimrodel kernel: Filesystem "loop3": I/O Error Detected. Shutting down filesystem: loop3 Jun 5 13:38:22 nimrodel kernel: Please umount the filesystem, and rectify the problem(s) Jun 5 13:38:22 nimrodel kernel: xfs_force_shutdown(loop3,0x1) called from line 424 of file fs/xfs/xfs_rw.c. Return address = 0xf93e5588 Jun 5 13:41:40 nimrodel kernel: cdrom: This disc doesn't have any tracks I recognize! IMO, this is a normal operation and the XFS subsystem should not complain. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

XFS is hitting a write error, and there's nothing in your post to indicate a media failure. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

It is a DVD, so obviously, it can't be written to (and it is mounted 'ro', just in case). There is no media error, AFAIK. Ok, let's try; I define: KERNEL_LOGLEVEL=7 restart syslog, mount: Jun 5 21:41:42 nimrodel kernel: Filesystem "loop3": Disabling barriers, not supported by the underlying device Jun 5 21:41:42 nimrodel kernel: XFS mounting filesystem loop3 Jun 5 21:41:43 nimrodel kernel: Ending clean XFS mount for filesystem: loop3 umount and eject: Jun 5 21:42:50 nimrodel kernel: xfs_force_shutdown(loop3,0x1) called from line 424 of file fs/xfs/xfs_rw.c. Just for fun, now that you're using a more recent release, can you retry this one?
Ok, that one is easy to test [...] Yep. same thing. nimrodel:~ # /etc/init.d/boot.crypto start /dev/dvd Please enter passphrase for /dev/dvd (mycrypt_mm_dvd): An error occurred.
