https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=781039 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=781039#c0 Summary: Kernel module fails in mixed rtl8168/rtl8169 system Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.2 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 12.2 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: joop.boonen@boonen.org QAContact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:15.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/15.0 I have a system that has both a PCI-E and a PCI Realtek 1Gb NIC. The type numbers are: RTL8111/8168B (PCI-E) RTL8169 (PCI) With the provided r8169 kernel module only the PCI interface is OK. The RTL8168 looks also fine at first. Ethtool always shows Link detected: no wither there is a link or not. The leds outside the NIC show the correct information like speed and blinking traffic led. When using the RTL provided r8168 module the issue is solved. This one is build in: home:worldcitizen:networkdrivers r8168 This is the NIC output part of lspci -k: 02:00.0 Ethernet controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL8169 PCI Gigabit Ethernet Controller (rev 10) Subsystem: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL8169/8110 Family PCI Gigabit Ethernet NIC Kernel driver in use: r8169 Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Have system with both a RTL8111/8168B (PCI-E) and a RTL8169 (PCI) card. 2. For both card kernel module r8169 is automatically selected. 3. No traffic possible, ethtool output always shows Link detected: no For the PCI-E card -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
