[Bug 491738] New: Will not boot installer from DVD with NVidia NF6100-400/405 - usb fails and aborts
http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=491738 Summary: Will not boot installer from DVD with NVidia NF6100-400/405 - usb fails and aborts Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Basesystem AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: johnlb2002@cox.net QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.0.4) Gecko/2008103100 SUSE/3.0.4-4.6 Firefox/3.0.4 The DVD boots to grub, then when starting install, it aborts with red window 'invalid signature'. It never gets out of the green screen to the first window with license data. Going through the process and pressing 'Esc' key during the green screen, it is trying to enable the usb ports and never gets beyond that - it aborts to fast to really see the exact message prior to the red window. This is on a Jetway M26GT3-SVP motherboard using the above NVidia chip for ethernet, usb, video, ide, sata, etc. It has an AMD Athelon 64 XP 5200+ Brisbane with 2.7G clock and 2 - 1G DDR RAM. 11.0 will install, but then has drop out problems with ethernet. I never got to the point of testing if NVidia's latest driver (for 10.2) worked (the lack of getting intact updates would not boot properly HD after the initial updates). Also, the DVD from the 11.1 iso was used to install on other hardware and worked well. And the hardware works well with Win XP. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Put install disk in & boot it. 2. Select installation. 3. Watch it crap out in about one minute. Actual Results: By pressing 'esc' right after it starts with the green load screen, it will come up with configuring usb and then an red abort alert. Expected Results: A full install, as 11.0 was able to do. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
