[Bug 232763] New: Cannot partition HostRAID drive in opensuse 10.2 yast when RAID volume name ends with [0-9]
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=232763 Summary: Cannot partition HostRAID drive in opensuse 10.2 yast when RAID volume name ends with [0-9] Product: openSUSE 10.2 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Installation AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: djwong@us.ibm.com QAContact: jsrain@novell.com I have an IBM x346 with the Adaptec 7902B U320 SCSI controller and HostRAID in the SCSI BIOS. The system has two 36GB SCSI disks which I am configuring as a RAID0. I am attempting to install OpenSUSE 10.2 onto the RAID0. The installer correctly configures the RAID0 volume "ELM3A92" as /dev/mapper/asr_ELM3A92; however, yast2 does not supply a partitioning proposal. When I try to manually set up partitions, I click "Create" in the partitioner and then "OK" to accept all defaults (one big ext3 /, no label, etc). Unfortunately, the dialog box goes away... but the partitions do not show up in the partition list! If I try these same steps but with the RAID volume named "RAID" (or anything that does not end in [0-9]), I can create partitions without problems. The installer also supplies a partitioning proposal when this is the case. The Adaptec BIOS allows users to supply arbitrary ASCII strings for volume names, so it's quite easy to hit this bug. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

If you are able to reproduce this in an installed system you can unpack the attachment and do a "rpm -Fhv yast2-storage*.rpm". Unfortunately so far I could not find a machine with a raid controller allowing arbitrary raid names to be specified by the user. Therefore I would be thankful if you could test if these packages fix the problem. If the problem is not fixed please attach y2log files again. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
