[Bug 257774] New: Enhancements to Yast's checkmedia
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=257774 Summary: Enhancements to Yast's checkmedia Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Alpha 2 Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Enhancement Priority: P5 - None Component: YaST2 AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: n5xwb@hal-pc.org QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Donn Washburn wrote: As a suggestion, it would be handy to have a "Eject media" button added to "Check Media" in the Yast2 app. Or have checkmedia do it after completion. This system is openSuSE10.3 Alpha0plus and .wodim-1.1.2-4 Second request is to have Yast2 again save to a HD and/or floppy. It saves time when something goes wrong. Besides it might kind of be used like kickstart or jumpstart. Does it mean that yast should be able to save/load package selection to a floppy? (AFAIK this enhancement has been implemented recently.) (Please, next time report each problem/enhancement in a separate report, tracking of the problem is much better esp. when each problem is solved by another developer.) -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=257774#c3 --- Comment #3 from Donald Washburn <n5xwb@hal-pc.org> 2007-07-03 17:26:00 MST --- Hey Andreas; Sorry about the delay I would like to see Yast2 during a primary install save all of it config information in a file.cfg. Yast in previous versions would save this information as a /root/user.cfg or on a /dev/fd0. I realize floppies are no longer really supported on new machines. The purpose of this file.cfg is to be used to reload the config information when something goes wrong during a initial install. This saves time because during a reload Yast would read the file. This is sort of like the /etc/fstab reading of partition information. However, it loads the config.rpms. Another, nice feature is to check what version of some files have been installed on the file that (rpm -q file or file --version) don't work This file could be similar to the clone file system currently offered by Yast2. Or maybe it could be used as Red Hat's kickstart. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

I think we should use Autoyast to save and reload the configuration in the first stage. It could be some sort of (partial) clonning in the first stage. (The already existing clonning functionality is available at the end of the installation workflow.) (Probably some yast modules would need to be enhanced, I'm not sure if all modules in the first stage support Autoyast fully...) -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

In fact, those configuration files might be a reason why the installation fails. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
