[Bug 403142] New: aborting ssh installation kills sshd, but doesn't reboot
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=403142 Summary: aborting ssh installation kills sshd, but doesn't reboot Product: openSUSE 11.0 Version: Final Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Installation AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: mmarek@novell.com QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Found By: --- Pressing F9 during ssh installation stops sshd, but doesn't reboot the machine. Instead, linuxrc displays "An error occurred during the installation." on the console (luckily, I can access the console via a serial port). Without access to the console, the machine isn't reachable any more. Not stopping sshd or rebooting the machine would make more sense here. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Anyway, I tend to close this as invalid or change it to enhancement because it works the same for all types of installation. Aborting returns the Linuxrc.
In other types of installation it makes perfect sense, but the Linuxrc dialog displayed on the console is not really helpful when you don't have access to the console.
It's hard to say what should be the "correct" behavior...
Don't kill sshd, so that the admin has access to the machine.
but anyway, we often want YaST logs to be attached and rebooting would make it impossible.
So you prefer making it impossible by killing sshd? :) -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

YaST doesn't start it, YaST doesn't kill it either... -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
