[Bug 211522] New: Cannot add a HTTP installation source
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=211522 Summary: Cannot add a HTTP installation source Product: openSUSE 10.2 Version: Alpha 5 Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: YaST2 AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: johnelliottmartin@gmail.com QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Whenever I try to add a http installation source via YaST or YaST2, the screen that says "Creating Source http://..." with the download progress bar just sits there flashing the progress bar as it goes from 0% to 100% over and over again and never completes. The source I am trying to add is http://mirror.pacific.net.au/linux/opensuse/distribution/SL-OSS-factory/inst... This installation was upgraded from 10.1 to 10.2alpha5 if that makes any difference. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

A temporary workaround is to click Add, then Specify URL -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=211522 ------- Comment #4 from johnelliottmartin@gmail.com 2006-10-13 04:06 MST ------- I have realised that what is happening is that all the translations for the package list are being downloaded very quickly, so this is not a bug per se. Perhaps if the entire string of the URL doesn't fit in the window at it's current size part of the URL string should be replaced with an elipsis (...). -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=211522 ------- Comment #5 from web_trash@msn.com 2006-10-13 19:40 MST ------- The error is received immediately after clicking Next and you're unable to continue with source. If you click No, you're dumped back into the Installation Source screen. If you click Yes, whatever you typed is cleared and you get to try again. I'm not doing anything different in 10.1 and it works as expected. The source listed in the screenshot is the whole source and doesn't scroll off. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=211522 ------- Comment #6 from web_trash@msn.com 2006-10-13 19:46 MST ------- In 10.1 entering the same info exactly as it appears in screenshot and clicking Next, will create the source putting download.opensuse.org in the Server Name field and distribution/SL-10.1/non-oss-inst-source// in the Directory on Server field. I've tried to enter that info in 10.2 using both fields to be explicit and it still fails. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

When the entered hostname contains "/" then the hostname is not valid and "" is silently used instead of it. Fixed in yast-packager-2.14.3 (yast-packager-2.13.161) - if the entred hostname contains a path it's moved to the directory specification. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
