[Bug 284957] New: Option for compression ratio when exporting pictures from F-Spot
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=284957 Summary: Option for compression ratio when exporting pictures from F-Spot Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Alpha 5 Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Enhancement Priority: P5 - None Component: GNOME AssignedTo: bnc-team-gnome@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: felix.rommel@web.de QAContact: qa@suse.de Description: When exporting pictures from F-Spot there is an option for resizing pictures which is very good if you want to send a few 5 Megapixel pictures by e-mail. But: this option makes no sense without having an option for choosing a compression level! If you you resize a 5 Megapixel picture to 1024x768 with a compression of 0% for example, the pictures are still too big for sending them by e-mail. Supposed behavior: There should be an option for compressing pictures like: Resize to: X Compression ratio: X % As a slider or as another widget so that people can resize and change compression in one step. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

I'm not sure there is much value in having a quality entry. There is value in having as simple of an interface as possible. The only time I can see this being useful is if the original image was not very compressed, then we aren't compressing it as much as might be prudent. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

In its default configuration pictures are saved with about 2 MByte. He wants to keep the JPEG pictures with 100% quality on his computer. But he often sends lots of new pictures to his friends. Very often these are 10 pictures. If there is no option to change quality of pictures he has to send: 10 x 2 MByte = 20 MByte by e-mail! Otherwise if he could change quality he would save lots of bandwith! -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
