https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=879906 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=879906#c0 Summary: mcelog lack support for recent CPUs Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 13.1 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 13.1 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Other AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: mjr19@cam.ac.uk QAContact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:29.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/29.0 The mcelog package is based on quite old source, and lacks full support for more recent Intel processors. The rpm changelog states that the sources were last updated on 17th Aug 2011, so support for many recent CPUs is absent. Suggest updating to a more recent upstream source tree, for upstream does have better support. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: (Assuming mcelog not currently running) 1. /usr/sbin/mcelog --daemon --foreground 2. Read message 3. Press ctrl C to exit mcelog Actual Results: mcelog: Unsupported new Family 6 Model 3c CPU: only decoding architectural errors or mcelog: Unsupported new Family 6 Model 3e CPU: only decoding architectural errors or mcelog: Unsupported new Family 6 Model 3a CPU: only decoding architectural errors Expected Results: No output at all (as is the case on older processors). One of those CPUs was a Xeon E3-1220 v3, launched June 2013, one a Xeon E5-1650 v2, launched Sept 2013, one a Xeon E3-1230 v2 launched May 2012. Suse 13.1 was released November 2013, so might be expected to support all of these. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
