[Bug 623218] New: Screensaver always asks for password / cannot be disabled
http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=623218 http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=623218#c0 Summary: Screensaver always asks for password / cannot be disabled Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.3 Version: Final Platform: Other OS/Version: openSUSE 11.3 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: KDE4 Workspace AssignedTo: kde-maintainers@suse.de ReportedBy: dieter.jurzitza@t-online.de QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; de; rv:1.9.2.4) Gecko/20100513 SUSE/3.6.4-153.5 Firefox/3.6.4 When running kde, the screensaver always becomes active and always asks for a password. This happens even during reproduction of DVD streams when it is absolutely boring if the screensaver turns active. I do not know how to disable this behaviour, the configuration dialogue is disfunctional in this regard. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Start kde 2. disable "ask for password" 3. wait :-( Actual Results: You will always be asked for a password though it is disabled explicitly. Applications that should not be coverd by a screensaver (like DVD - reproduction) cannot prevent the screensaver from getting active. Expected Results: Guess what ;-) -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Try with a new user account and be more specific in the steps to reproduce. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Though I disabled the password for the kde-screensaver in "system settings", powerdevil was actively monitoring the system (though, as it is a desktop computer, I never ever configured it). Therefore the screen was locked after the predefined time within powerdevil. Disabling this solved the issue - the only thing I really do not understand ist why powerdevil would be actively doing anything though not being told to do so. Thank you for looking into this, maybe you want to keep this for the records. Take care Dieter Jurzitza -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

It would be nice if one could find out why powerdevil would be active though not being told. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
