[Bug 209868] New: Printing Dialog Crash
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=209868 Summary: Printing Dialog Crash Product: SUSE LINUX 10.0 Version: unspecified Platform: i686 OS/Version: SuSE Linux 10.0 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: KDE AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: kai.betamax@googlemail.com QAContact: kde-maintainers@suse.de Hi, after Updating the KDE Packages to Version 3.5.4-123.1 it isn't possible to Print anymore. On each Application i would to print, the Dialog pops up, but then it is hanging. It isn't possible to choose a Printer and it isn't possible to hit a button. After pressing the Close button in the upper right corner, the Process (ink. the App) is ending. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

do you get any output on console? no sorry, no output on the console. i tired it with kpdf, kate and kwrite. still the same at each app. after calling the printdialog the app is crashed.
do you use cups printer? yes i do
do you get the "Initializing printing subsystem" popup? where should i get this? when i open the app, then i open a dokument, then i got to file -> printing, the printing dialog comes up, but without chooseable printers. and it isn't possible to made input to this dialog, because it is dead. then only the exit button on the window decoration is working. but it didn't exit instead after a few seconds the comes a warning that the app isn't respond anymore. the i could only say exit or not exit. when i say exit the app is ending, when i say not exit, the app is in the same state before: did not recognize any input
and this is only happend with kde apps, because from other apps like firefox or openoffice printing is working. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

BUT THIS IS A STUPID AND NOT USERFRIENDLY WAY, BECAUSE THE VERSION 10.0 IS ONLY ONE YEAR OLD! It isn't nice, because the FAQ (http://en.opensuse.org/Frequently_Asked_Questions) on opensuse.com told the User that each released Version of SuSE Linux will be actual: ------------------------------------- Fedora basically forces you to update to the newest version to stay current, even for security updates. How does openSUSE handle this? This is also the case for all development versions (alpha/beta) of SUSE Linux, but not for the released versions. ------------------------------------- Seems to say Goodbye to SuSE! -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
