Then it wants you to press a button locally to proceed in text mode however its not possible then to go on over a serial console. It should switch automatically to textmode. The message doesn't even exist. You are still using a <= SL 10.1 grub. I did an DVD update (no changes, no interaction, it just worked fine) from 10.1 and also get that -->-- GRUB Loading stage2... file "(hd2,0/message" too large, press any key to continue... i is 228048, MIN_GFX_FREE is 49152, buf_size is 228048 --<-- Google shows that others are also hit by the problem.
