[Bug 1061457] New: hplip's root-password query upon plugin installation does not work
http://bugzilla.suse.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1061457 Bug ID: 1061457 Summary: hplip's root-password query upon plugin installation does not work Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Distribution Version: Leap 42.3 Hardware: Other OS: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Printing Assignee: jsmeix@suse.com Reporter: wagner-thomas@gmx.at QA Contact: jsmeix@suse.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- Starting hp-toolbox as non-root-user to configure my printer/scanner combo Laserjet Pro 100. Printing works fine but scanner requires a plugin which can be downloaded and installed from within the hp-toolbox. hp-toolbox queries for the root password during plugin installation, but the password is not accepted. Apparently, Ubuntu has the same bug. https://bugs.launchpad.net/hplip/+bug/1521006 Their workaround ( ~/.hplip/plugin_tmp/ && /usr/bin/sudo /usr/bin/python installPlugin.py ) also works for openSUSE Leap 42.3, but it is an unnecessary hurdle. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
