According to /usr/share/doc/packages/kde4-print-manager/README the following things should be included: * printd - contains a kded module that checks for user print jobs and shows a systray icon -> I don't see any systray icon (with or without active print jobs) * printqueue - contains an application that show the printers queue -> /usr/lib64/kde4/libexec/print-queue - I can't start it from the commandline, only via the kcm module. Besides that, it doesn't refresh (example: if I cancel a print job, it's still listed - restarting print-queue seems to be the only way to update the list). Additionally, it can only show the queue of one printer, and has no way to switch to another printer's queue. * printer-manager-kcm - configure printers in a very simple way -> the parts I tested seem to work * add-printer - a wizard to add new printers -> not tested * plasmoid - show printers and it's jobs -> works, but doesn't show on which printer a job is queued To sum it up: The annoying icon is gone - and replaced by some hot (or cold?) air :-( The plasmoid looks like a workaround, but I'd like to have a tray icon again.
