OK, then it implies that just adding the PCI entry alone doesn't suffice, and it'd need more tweaks.

It means that you'd need to ask the upstream devs of r8169 driver for the support of this missing model. You can try to open a report on kernel bugzilla, but maybe the best would be to contact them via mailing list (or mail). Feel free to put me to Cc if you ask them.
