[Bug 1013023] New: use whole disk device (no msdos or gpt partitioning)
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1013023 Bug ID: 1013023 Summary: use whole disk device (no msdos or gpt partitioning) Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Distribution Version: Leap 42.2 Hardware: Other OS: Other Status: NEW Severity: Enhancement Priority: P5 - None Component: AutoYaST Assignee: autoyast-maintainers@suse.de Reporter: patrick.schaaf@yalwa.com QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; CrOS x86_64 8743.85.0) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/54.0.2840.101 Safari/537.36 Build Identifier: Trying to use autoyast to set up a virtual machine, I cannot find a way to tell it to use the whole (/dev/vda) disk device as the root filesystem. The <disklabel> only provides a choice of "msdos" and "gpt". I tried setting it to "none", but that defaulted to the traditional "msdos" formatting, resulting in / being /dev/vda1 instead of the desired /dev/vda. As everything else regarding running systems, works with / being /dev/vda - I've been running my VMs set up that way since at least openSUSE 11.4 - it would be strongly desirable for autoyast to be able to set a system up in that way, too. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. try <disklabel>none</disklabel> 2. 3. Actual Results: root filesystem on /dev/vda1 Expected Results: root filesystem on /dev/vda -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
