[Bug 820444] New: zypper fails to propose an update, and vendor lock inactive?
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=820444 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=820444#c0 Summary: zypper fails to propose an update, and vendor lock inactive? Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.3 Version: Final Platform: All OS/Version: Linux Status: NEW Severity: Minor Priority: P5 - None Component: libzypp AssignedTo: zypp-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: jengelh@inai.de QAContact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: Beta-Customer Blocker: --- Created an attachment (id=539833) --> (http://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=539833) /var/log/zypp* testcase for `zypper up` The system has the current package 3.7.10~jng12 from the jeng repository/vendor installed. There is also a 3.7.10~jng15 available that would be installable because it is _from the same vendor_. However, libzypp seems to only consider the most recent version, 3.7.10-1.4.1 from opensuse-update, and determines that, because it is of a different vendor, will not be chosen for installation. --8<-- # zypper lu --all Loading repository data... Is the second bug mentioned #c1 fixed?
That's impossible to tell from the data you provided. (Testcase: zypper up --debug-solver kernel-desktop) But I assume it is not, at least is Jans original testcase is properly resolved the fixed libsolv-0.3.1. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Is the second bug mentioned #c1 fixed?
Please forget my answer in #c3, obviously I did not read your question right. No, the second bug (the one in zypper/libzypp) is not yet fixed, and it is the cause for your problem. 'zypper lu' and 'zypper up' are right, there is no update available. 'zypper up kernel-desktop' is wrong because the suggested kernel-default-3.9.7_jng17 has a different vendor than the installed kernel-default. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
