[Bug 350910] New: Can access partitions on 2nd disk
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=350910 Summary: Can access partitions on 2nd disk Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Final Platform: PowerPC-64 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Critical Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: sjmunroe@aol.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: Customer Created an attachment (id=188873) --> (https://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=188873) fstab after my edits Installed OpenSuse10.3 on a PowerMac G5 with two disk - dual booted with OSX. Wanted to reuse partitons from previous (YellowDog 4.1) install. So used customer partitioning option to assign mount points ( /, /home, /opt and /work) to the existing partitons. Marked / and /opt for reformating, and /home /work to NOT format, the proceeded with install. At the end of the complete process I end with ONLY only one partition (/) with /home and /opt included there! I found that /etc/fstab only included the / partition: /dev/disk/by-id/scsi-SATA_Maxtor_6L250S0_L60WGGJH-part8 / ext3 acl,user_xattr 1 1 So I edited /etc/fstab to add back the missing /home /work and /opt2 (temporary until figure this out). As in: /dev/disk/by-id/scsi-SATA_Maxtor_6L250S0_L60WGGJH-part8 / ext3 acl,user_xattr 1 1 /dev/disk/by-id/scsi-SATA_Maxtor_6L250S0_L60WGGJH-part10 /home ext3 acl,user_xattr 1 1 /dev/sdb11 /work ext3 acl,user_xattr 1 1 /dev/disk/by-id/scsi-SATA_Maxtor_6L250S0_L60WGGJH-part6 swap swap defaults 0 0 /dev/disk/by-id/scsi-SATA_Maxtor_6L250S0_L50MTLTG-part7 swap swap defaults Then rebooted Now I see see my orginal /home but still can't see /work or /opt2!! I have tried various spellings of the device/partition names to no avail. I can manually mount partitions so they exist and are still valid, but the system seems unable to mount partitions from /dev/sdb in the normal way. This leaves 141GB of my projects and data that I can access or use. I need this fixed ASAP so I can actuallty use this machine! -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
