[Bug 802970] New: Default gateway not set up after first user logs in
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=802970 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=802970#c0 Summary: Default gateway not set up after first user logs in Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.3 Version: RC 1 Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Network AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: turtlevt@yahoo.com QAContact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit/537.17 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/24.0.1312.69 Safari/537.17 I have installed opensuse 12.3 with updates from the repositories as of 02/08/13. I had no problem with the initially installed release, but subsequently an update through yast has caused the following problem. System boots fine, no problem reported. User logs in using KDE desktop. Log in is successful, but some plasmoids and apps activated at login, complain they have no network. This is in fact true. Opening a console and trying to ping says network unreachable. PC is connected to a router via wireless interface. The wireless interface IS up - I can ping the router successfully. On examination, I discovered that there was NO default router in the routing tables. Using the route command to establish a default router enables networking. Alternatively using the network manager plasmoid to disable/enable the network also re-establishes networking. NetworkManager log seems to indicate a default router has been set up during system initialization, but by the time the user logs in, it either never was, or has been removed. All connections have been established - the problem is simply that the default router was never set up or has been removed. I am not able to determine which. The problem is the same using one of the simpler desktops, so I don't think it is a KDE problem. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.reboot system 2.log in user 3. Actual Results: network is unreachable until a route command is given to add a default gateway Expected Results: network to be available -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
