Ouch, that's not good. Is it still present on the 2.6.24 kernel version?
Top causes for wakeups: 33.9% (388.7) <kernel IPI> : Rescheduling interrupts 17.7% (202.7) vmware-vmx : schedule_timeout (process_timeout) Decided to upgrade to the newest Kernel version in the SUSE Factory: uname -r 2.6.24-121-default Still the same behavior.. and my poor battery is feelin' the pain. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Ah, hey, you're running vmware, that's why :)
Disable vmware, unload the kernel modules, and then see what your wakeup rate is.
Greg, With VMWare off and none of the kernel modules I see: Top causes for wakeups: 35.7% (118.7) <kernel IPI> : Rescheduling interrupts 18.8% ( 62.4) <interrupt> : nvidia Idle and: In the 300+ just typing this to you. When logged into run level 3 I get about 50 or so. Could this be caused by X? or Compiz? Nvidia drivers seems to take about 60 btw. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

please unload all closed source kernel modules.
And yes, compviz and 3d graphics are known to be large sources of interrupts.
If, after unloading all closed source kernel modules, and turnning off the 3d desktop stuff, your kernel is still generating too many interrupts, please let us know.
It seems as though Compiz Fusion is most likely the cause of the high requests.. I'll do more testing and let you know.. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Still looking for some time to do some tests.. It still seems like I have a crazy amount of interrupts.. I'll try in a different DE also. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
