On the Xfce desktop, I also installed the gnome pattern.
gnome-music does not start:
yay.
gi._glib.GError: GDBus.Error:org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.ServiceUnknown: The name org.gnome.SettingsDaemon was not provided by any .service files
indeed: gnome-music requires a gnome session (actually, gnome-settings-daemon). I'll validate with upstreams if there are plans to decouple it from GNOME; but given the name, I don't think there is a big chance. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

It's ok for me if it stays a proper gnome application. But if it does not start on the Xcfe desktop, it must not appear in the Xfce main menu.
Worry not my friend :) patch is on the way.. there are 'some' features lost outside of a gnome-session, but the 'general' handling is in place... (media key handling is normally done by gnome-settings-daemon; so that is likely missing in XFCE then) -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Ok, now it starts. And that's basically all. It want me to copy files into my $HOME. It seems to ignore ~/Music ...
NO, it expects your music to be in ~/Music... BUT it also expects tracker to be running and indexing your music. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
