That directory is full of old and hence useless thumbnails which build up to 350 MB of data. I do not use to hover pictures very often, neither do I use the icon-view in any of my folders, so for people who do this might even be a lot more of data garbage. I am not sure what the reason for keeping thumbnails of pictures I open/preview once and never again is, yet since this seems to be an unlimited problem, i.e. until there is no space left it seems like a grave bug to me, since having 0 bytes left in ~ can lead to data loss, if the user is unlucky. Expected behaviour: Set a strict limit to that dir, clean up old/unneeded thumbnails, disable that feature by default unless learns to behave. The gimp creates pictures in that dir too, when opening them and does not clean up afterwards. But if this is caused by some automagic that is not limitable and hidden from the user anyway, it should know how to behave and since it does not, it seems to be broken by design. Or would you just call this bad luck for the user and one should know how to deal with this issue? The problem is real and is not just konqueror. ~/.thumbnails is declared a cache, but no tool does really treat it as cache, but basically as dumping ground. Very well hidden! :) And it still has to be apllied manually and does not give the user any information which data is actually deleted.
