https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=735237 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=735237#c0 Summary: built in mic for lenovo g770 laptop does not work Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.1 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: SuSE Other Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Sound AssignedTo: tiwai@suse.com ReportedBy: nickhsalem@gmail.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- Created an attachment (id=466210) --> (http://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=466210) output of /usr/sbin/alsa-info.sh --no-upload User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit/535.2 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/15.0.874.121 Safari/535.2 I can't get the built in mic for my Lenovo G770 laptop to work. I am trying to use google video chat; my webcam works; I can hear sound but the mic is not responsive. I tried to use arecord and aplay to test recording some sound but no sound gets recorded. Someone in the opensuse forums mentioned that the Lenovo G770 uses the CX20590 hardware audio codec which is fairly new and was recently committed into the kernel in Mar 2011 but maybe did not get into opensuse 12.1. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.enter the following: arecord -vv -f S16_LE -c 2 -D hw:0,0 new.wav 2.click CTRL-C to stop recording after some time 3.enter to listen to the new.wav: aplay new.wav Actual Results: no sound Expected Results: you should hear the sound that you recorded using your laptop's mic -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Adjust mixer (e.g. via "alsamixer -c0"). Does this work? If not, try to use alsa-driver-kmp from OBS multimedia:audio:KMP repo. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
