I wanted to activate ACPI_DEBUG for 10.3 for Alphas and early Betas for better ACPI error debugging. But it seems as if ACPI_DEBUG could make some problems? Hmm, it could still be stuck somewhere else, but thermal polling is just going on. Do you know how to compile a SUSE kernel? Tell me if not and I can help, you might want to mail me privately and I can give you my ICQ no, this might be a bit faster... Why do you try to install a debug kernel, is default kernel working? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=252517 ------- Comment #2 from casualprogrammer@yahoo.com 2007-03-23 09:01 MST ------- "Why do you try to install a debug kernel" I was asked to for tracing another bug. "is default kernel working?" Yes, it works OK "Do you know how to compile a SUSE kernel?" Well, I managed to compile and install some, so we could give it a try. What needs to be changed ? "Tell me if not and I can help, you might want to mail me privately and I can give you my ICQ no, this might be a bit faster..." Never used ICQ -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=252517 ------- Comment #3 from trenn@novell.com 2007-03-23 10:22 MST ------- Maybe the easiest try would be to remove the thermal module first: - boot the working kernel - remove thermal (you could also remove processor and fan) entry from INITRD_MODULES="..." in /etc/sysconfig/kernel - invoke mkinitrd - reboot the debug kernel (If this is really the cause, you may want to also set: ACPI_MODULES="NONE" in /etc/sysconfig/powersave/common or the module will get tried to be loaded again at later time). The messages should be gone now? Does it also proceed with booting? Hmm, to be honest, I doubt it will help much, it's just the first step to find out whether this message is really the cause, but if it's not it could get hard to debug... -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=252517 ------- Comment #6 from casualprogrammer@yahoo.com 2007-03-26 22:53 MST ------- It is back with kernel 2.6.21-rc4-git5-3-debug, although in a milder form. This time I need to run the debug kernel, as default fails to boot. It seems to work fine, yet dmesg shows repeatedly [ACPI Debug] String: [0x11] "Current temp is: " [ACPI Debug] Integer: 0x00000032 These messages keep coming up. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
