https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=803162 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=803162#c0 Summary: Console Monitor Goes blank after OpenSuse 12.2 YOU upgrade Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.2 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 12.2 Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: X.Org AssignedTo: bnc-team-xorg-bugs@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: p.chiu@rl.ac.uk QAContact: xorg-maintainer-bugs@forge.provo.novell.com Found By: Community User Blocker: --- We have a DELL Optiplex 960 desktop with Intel Core2 Duo E8400 CPUs, 8GB memory and Intel Corperation 4 Series Chipset Integrated graphics controller. The console monitor is a Bellnea 101720 17" LCD. I installed OpenSuse 12.2 64-bit on it without any problems even after a few reboots. All working well as expected. I then applied YOU to update all packages, and rebooted the system. After display starting ramdisk, the console goes blank (dark). However the system appears to continue the start-up as I can log on over the network. proteus:/altroot # lspci | grep -i graphics 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 4 Series Chipset Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 03) 00:02.1 Display controller: Intel Corporation 4 Series Chipset Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 03) In /var/log/Xorg.0.log, it records: ... The question is why is that YOU could modify the graphics device without prompting the users for the change? Also, can you please advise how to reconfigure the display, without the console display being available? Many thanks. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
