https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=404106 Summary: powersave s2ram does not work Product: openSUSE 11.0 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.0 Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: GNOME AssignedTo: bnc-team-gnome@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: ingo_a_wolf@addcom.de QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: Other Hello, I now tried to work s2ram with openSUSE 11.0, but it does not work (correctly). This machine can be identified by: sys_vendor = "HP-Pavilion" sys_product = "GN598AA-ABD m8180.de" sys_version = " " bios_version = "5.08 " See http://en.opensuse.org/S2ram for details. If you report a problem, please include the complete output above. If you report success, please make sure you tested it from both X and the text console and preferably without proprietary drivers. I tried from console with init=/bin/bash and from the x window. Console with the following parameters from the menu.lst of the boot menu: ###Don't change this comment - YaST2 identifier: Original name: tty### title openSUSE GNU/Linux 11.0 (TTY) root (hd0,5) kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.25.5-1.1-default root=/dev/disk/by-id/scsi-SATA_SAMSUNG_HD501LJS10NJ1FP704016-part6 resume=/dev/sda5 init=/bin/bash splash=silent showopts vga=0x31a initrd /boot/initrd-2.6.25.5-1.1-default Then I did mount /sys and mount /proc from the console. _*Results from console are:*_ s2ram -f: yes machine goes to sleep, powerbutton of the machine turns from blue to yellow, same lcd.monitor, but after switching power button to awake, machine awakes, but the backlights of lcd-monitor remain black, fan of cpu is running fully without stopping in a few minutes (I finished it by poweroff) s2ram -f a 3: same result s2ram -f a 2: same result s2ram -f a 1: same result s2ram -f -m: same result and in addition machine beeping s2ram -f -s: same result and in addition machine beeping s2ram -f -p: same results s2ram -f -a 1 -m: not tested s2ram -f -a 1 -s: not tested with -v option in addition: not tested _*Resutls from X Window are: *_s2ram -f: yes machine goes to sleep, and after switching the power button, it even awakes with monitor too; but a *_second attempt _*with s2ram -f as a result has a total hang of the machine on the gnome desktop. Even STRG-ALT-F1 and STRG-ALT-DEL on the tty does not work. Even tty1-6 hang totally. After switching off the power button, machine reboots, goes in the GNOME GUI, but either hangs after a few mouse clicks and/or certain drivers like sound driver or webcam driver do not work anymore. I have to do 3-6 reboots with the machine until the machine works again correctly on the gnome desktop and the drivers work again correctly. Finally, it is practical not possible for me to use s2ram on my machine. s2ram -f a 3: no, this does not work at all, has system hang totally--> powerbutton to switch off and on and reboot s2ram -f a 2: yes, but same as s2ram -f s2ram -f a 1: no, same as s2ram -f -a 3 s2ram -f -m: no, same as s2ram -f -a 3 s2ram -f -s: yes, same as s2ram -f -a 2 (with a small error message in addition that a function does not work) s2ram -f -p: no, same as s2ram -f -a 3 s2ram -f -p -m: no, same as s2ram -f -a 3 s2ram -f -a 1 -m: yes, but same as s2ram -f -s s2ram -f -a 1 -s: no, same as s2ram -f -a 3 with -v switch in addition: s2ram -f a 3: yes, but same as s2ram -f s2ram -f a 2: no, does not work at all, has system hang totally--> powerbutton to switch off and on s2ram -f a 1: yes, but same as s2ram -f s2ram -f -m: no, same as s2ram -f -a 3 s2ram -f -s: yes, same as s2ram -f -s s2ram -f -p: no, same as s2ram -f -a 3 s2ram -f -p -m: not tested s2ram -f -a 1 -m: no, same as s2ram -f -a 3 s2ram -f -a 1 -s: yes, but same as s2ram -f -s ------------------ end ------------------------------------------ -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
