[Bug 631066] New: Sound works only from internal speaker, not from headphones
http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=631066 http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=631066#c0 Summary: Sound works only from internal speaker, not from headphones Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.3 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.3 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Sound AssignedTo: tiwai@novell.com ReportedBy: Vojtech.Zeisek@opensuse.org QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- Created an attachment (id=382906) --> (http://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=382906) HW configuration of the notebook User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; cs-CZ; rv:1.9.2.8) Gecko/20100723 SUSE/3.6.8-0.1.1 Firefox/3.6.8 After fresh installation as well as upgrade (in KDE as well as in GNOME) on Dell Vostro 1220 equipped with sound card 00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) HD Audio Controller (rev 03) I hear sound only from internal speaker. Even I connect headphones or external speaker, I hear sound only from the internal speaker and not from headphones. On another computers (ThinkPad, ...) it behaves as expected. Also when booting from Ubuntu LIVE CD it works as expected, so it is a SUSE bug. I have actual ALSA from OSS repository, nothing special. If yes, take alsa-info.sh output (run with --no-upload option), and upload to here. If vanilla kernel doesn't work, it's no SUSE bug; e.g. Ubuntu did something special and didn't give feedback. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Interestingly, when I boot from 11.2 LIVE CD, I hear sound from internal speaker as well as headphones. I also upload the result of the script. Just in case it would contain result of the problem. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

With the next update kernel, you'll need no longer model option. The problem of FSC Esprimo can be completely different, depending on the codec and implementation. "No sound from speaker or headphone" is a very common problem pattern with HD-audio. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
