[Bug 1175541] New: workqueue lockup and freeze
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1175541 Bug ID: 1175541 Summary: workqueue lockup and freeze Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Tumbleweed Version: Current Hardware: Other OS: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel Assignee: kernel-bugs@opensuse.org Reporter: P.Suetterlin@royac.iac.es QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- Created attachment 840859 --> http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/attachment.cgi?id=840859&action=edit tar with two syslog files of the freezes I've now twice gotten full system freezes of my Lenovo T460p laptop running TW 20200813. Both happened after the laptop had been placed back into its docking station. I.e., I (usually) boot it in the dock, and use it there. Sometimes I need to work in the lab, then I take it out, and place it back in the dock afterwards. Both yesterday and today, this resulted in a complete freeze of the system. The only thing still working was the mouse (I could move the cursor), which - strange enough - is connected to the dock, not to the laptop. No reaction on keyboard or network pings. Both cases show the same error messages several times before the freeze: BUG: workqueue lockup - pool cpus=2 node=0 flags=0x0 nice=0 stuck for 58s! I attach the 'journalctl -b' logs for the two boot cycles. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Hmm, was it loaded? It should not. This is an optimus system, I use bumblebee. So it should load the driver on boot, disable the card, and unload again until I use optirun to make use of it, which isn't very often after all. So it really should have been on the internal graphics (HD530/Skylake)....
It's loaded *and* bound once. That may already break things badly if Nvidia driver is broken. It doesn't matter whether it's unloaded later or not. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Not sure how to test this. Or how to prevent it. I only know the optirun and lsmod commands that tell me nothing nvidia is active :( -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
