No matter what I do (unconfiguring the network card, removing default gateway and nameservers) the error always occurs. When I initially configured the network card in December it worked just fine. The error today occurred for the first time, when I changed my network card from DHCP to static address and manually added a default gateway and nameservers. Even after undoing all configuration changes the error persists. At the moment I can only successfully apply the network settings if I use NetworkManager instead of the traditional ifup method. I attached the relevant parts of y2log. Fixing this bug would be great (I don't like to use NetworkManager), but if there is a temporary workaround (like manually resetting the network configuration) I'd also be grateful. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Start YaST Network Settings. 2. Select "Traditional method with ifup". 3. Click OK. Actual Results: YaST freezes at "Write hostname and DNS configuration". (just type 'yast2 dns' in the terminal, modify something and try to save). I'm trying to narrow down the list of potential culprits. If yes, enable the debug logging as follows 'Y2DEBUG=1 yast2 dns' and attach the relevant part of y2log here. I think I could reproduce the bug again, however, I don't feel like risking to lose my working configuration again. Which files do I need to restore if due to bug testing my network configuration breaks again? You might need to backup /etc/sysconfig/network/config file before doing that. The output on console was as follows: root@earth:/etc/sysconfig/network# Y2DEBUG=1 yast2 dns sh: line 1: 4995 Segmentation fault /usr/sbin/acpidump 2> /dev/null sh: line 1: 5028 Segmentation fault /usr/sbin/acpidump 2> /dev/null ^CYaST got signal 2 at YCP file DNS.ycp:256 The last line only occurred after I pressed CTRL+C/killed YaST2 with xkill.
