[Bug 925678] New: cronjob mails show shell color codes
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=925678 Bug ID: 925678 Summary: cronjob mails show shell color codes Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Distribution Version: 13.2 Hardware: x86-64 OS: openSUSE 13.2 Status: NEW Severity: Minor Priority: P5 - None Component: Other Assignee: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com Reporter: robin.roth@kit.edu QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- We run /usr/lib/YaST2/bin/online_update by symlinking it to /etc/cron.daily. The shell output of that script has colors. Cron usually removes them when sending an email. This worked fine with openSuse 13.1. Since the update to 13.2, in emails most color codes are removed (all [3.m) but the code [0m is not removed. Like in Continue? [y[0m/n[0m/?[0m shows all options] (y[0m): [0my I'm not completely sure it's cron's fault. I tested that the "mail" command itself does not remove color codes, neither in 13.1 nor 13.2. So it must be some script before. Thanks for looking into this. As a side-note: The file /usr/lib/cron/run-crons has some very old changelog in the header which is neither helpful nor necessary and could most likely be removed -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
