Your request was not rejected. As with a package, the dependencies were checked and the pattern was 're-installed'. It's just that the 're-install' of a pattern does not lead to any change in your system.
Just see it from a perspective of a simple user: The re-installation is what is expected, as the pattern can be seen as a cluster around a set of packages (in this case those that are basically required to run KDE)
(I know it's confusing, and it may indeed change in the future. It might be we closely tie a specific package to a pattern, so installing removing a pattern will actually perform some action on disk.)
