[Bug 561086] New: Compose key (multi key) does not work with GTK_IM_MODULE=cedilla in GTK2 apps
http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=561086 http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=561086#c0 Summary: Compose key (multi key) does not work with GTK_IM_MODULE=cedilla in GTK2 apps Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.2 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.2 Status: NEW Severity: Minor Priority: P5 - None Component: X.Org AssignedTo: bnc-team-xorg-bugs@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: bugreports@tittel.net QAContact: xorg-maintainer-bugs@forge.provo.novell.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US; rv:1.9.1.5) Gecko/20091103 SUSE/3.5.5-1.1.2 Firefox/3.5.5 By default GTK_IM_MODULE is set to "cedilla" in /etc/X11/xim.d/none. However, with this default setting I never could get the compose key to work in GTK2 apps in any openSUSE release of the last years. I am using the right windows key as compose key by telling this line to xmodmap: "keycode 134 = Multi_key" If I change GTK_IM_MODULE to xim in /etc/X11/xim.d/none this issue is fixed. However the verbose comments in /etc/X11/xim.d/none clearly imply that breaking compose key functionality by using cedilla is not intended and should not happen. Reproducible: Always -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

In the last several years I did not have problems with xim as GTK_IM_MODULE. The reason why the switch to cedilla was made, lies in this bug: https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=413879 As I see it, switching to cedilla was just a workaround to get umlauts working in the Adobe Reader. In case "xim" breaks that even nowadays (I could test it in the next days), wouldn't changing to xim in /etc/X11/xim.d/none and adding GTK_IM_MODULE=cedilla in /usr/bin/acroread make everybody happy? If you find it more appropriate, we could also reopen bug 413879 and abandon this one. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
