[Bug 1127997] New: transactional server fails to boot after installation
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1127997 Bug ID: 1127997 Summary: transactional server fails to boot after installation Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Distribution Version: Leap 15.1 Hardware: Other OS: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Installation Assignee: yast2-maintainers@suse.de Reporter: comes@naic.edu QA Contact: jsrain@suse.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- I do a normal installation and I select Transactional Server as System Role. In the partitioning screen I select guided setup and XFS as filesystem type for the root partition. The installation completes without error, but after reboot I got a dracut emergency shell. In the shell, the file /sysroot/etc/fstab contains: UUID=305f54d4-cfde-4df9-b44d-234f942ffd6c swap swap defaults 0 0 UUID=ae6899e5-25b5-48f3-a844-6456e3c2088a / xfs defaults 0 0 overlay /etc overlay defaults,lowerdir=/sysroot/etc,upperdir=/sysroot/var/lib/overlay/1/etc,workdir=/sysroot/var/lib/overlay/work-etc,x-systemd.requires-mounts-for=/var,x-systemd.requires-mounts-for=/sysroot/var,x-initrd.mount 0 0 If I remove the overlay line and reboot, then the system completes the boot process. For what I can see there are two possible solutions: 1) The transactional server is supposed to work only with btrfs. In such case it should not be possible to select the xfs filesystem when partitioning the disk. 2) xfs is allowed with the transactional server. In such case the overlay line shold not be there if the filesystem is xfs. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
