[Bug 884867] New: acpitz-virtual-0 has vanished from sensors(8) output
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=884867 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=884867#c0 Summary: acpitz-virtual-0 has vanished from sensors(8) output Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 13.1 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: Linux Status: NEW Severity: Minor Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: jdelvare@suse.com ReportedBy: jengelh@inai.de QAContact: qa-bugs@suse.de CC: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com Found By: Beta-Customer Blocker: --- Your commit in git://git.gitorious.org/opensuse/kernel-source , commit e60ddcfef0376482fec999aeb8ea73519ee1a398 Author: Jean Delvare <jdelvare@suse.de> Date: Thu Mar 6 10:53:14 2014 +0100 - Update config files: CONFIG_THERMAL=y causes that the device "acpitz-virtual-0" is no longer shown by the sensors(8) command, or any other monitoring software. If CONFIG_THERMAL=y and CONFIG_HWMON=m (which is the case for the SUSE kernel), then CONFIG_THERMAL_HWMON will turn into =n, which is responsible for the disappearance the "acpitz" hwmon device under /sys/class/hwmon. Please revert. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

They all have both =y, except for the xen flavor which has both =m (and ec2 which has neither.) So please double check and clarify which product, architecture and kernel flavor you think is wrong. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Indeed. So this one grew on my tree, then. Sorry about that. I have a substitution applied to the configs on each rebase I do. In that, I do something like s/HWMON=y/HWMON=m/. That worked in 3.13, since THERMAL=m in the SUSE kernel, and only stopped working in 3.14 because THERMAL was switched from m to y while I kept HWMON=m. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
