The player seems to be playing, volume is adjustable, there's just no sound coming out of the speakers. Usually it's reversed (S2D works but S2R not). Please attach the contents of /proc/asound/card0/atiixp and /proc/asound/card0/codec97#0/ac97* files, for both working and non-working status. While s2ram is nice to use because of its boot speed, it only works without framebuffer. S2disk OTOH can use one of the cutest splash screens ever made, which automagically gives it the win.
